COSSAC is celebrating its 2nd birthday and what a wild rollercoaster ride the last couple of years has been!
We have learned so much in the last two years, particularly in the business sense, and through the highs and lows, we’ve been inspired and spurred on by YOU. We honestly wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for your encouragement, support and belief in what we’re doing.
So thank you for being there with us each step of the way. Sincerely, you guys are the best!
Now I want to be frank with you.
The last two years haven’t been smooth sailing. To fight for what we believe in, to help create mindful space in the unconscious fast fashion world, we have gone above and beyond, declining partnerships, staying resolute to our capsule minimalist approach has been difficult.
But we believe in sustainability and we believe in slow fashion. Creating and promoting our #ECOHOT fashion brand has been a true labour of love but despite all the frustrations, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I started the brand because I firmly believe that there is another way to do fashion, a better, more conscious, more sustainable way. And I know I’m not alone, I’ve met many of you who want the same thing!
As a fashion designer travelling to various parts of the world, I have personally witnessed the true cost of fast fashion. I have visited factories, dealt with suppliers and have been haunted by the eyes of exploited garment workers. I knew when I started COSSAC that I would create fashion that stood for something more than just looking good. I wanted my brand to be something I felt good about too.
And so when I look back on the last two years, I feel incredibly proud at all that we’ve accomplished and I am hopeful that the future of fashion is a truly ethical and sustainable one.
Highlights of an #ECOHOT brand
There have been many highlights over the last two years.
We’ve been featured in magazines such as Glamour and Eluxe Magazine. Our photo shoots been featured in several publications such as Nylon, C-Heads Magazine and Flanelle Magazine. I’ve personally been interviewed for magazines such as Atlas Magazine, Peridot Magazine, and Savant Magazine.
COSSAC has also received much love from some wonderful people such as comedian celebrity parody sensation Celeste Barber, Australian TV presenter Bec Stevens, London based DJs Belle & Bee and eco fashion bloggers such as Kate Arnell of Eco Boost and Angela Wallace of Sasstainable.
We’ve also travelled to several global destinations, starting from our headquarters in East London to Istanbul to the far east such as China and Japan. Each time we disembark and set foot in another country, we’re instantly inspired by the sights, sounds, food, and culture. We’re lucky to be able to do what we love and share it with you. We’ve also made our way to some amazing trade shows such as Ethical Fashion Show Berlin and Pure London.
One of our favourite things is collaborating talented creatives who absolutely understand our conscious brand and what we’re trying to achieve with it. We’ve worked with some brilliant creatives such as esteemed fashion photographer Atisha Paulson, and cult photographers Ari Seg and Alasdair K. Boyce, as well as artist Donghan Shin. Stunning models such as Irina Peacock, Ruthie Hanan, Melina DiMarco and Olivia A.G. have donned our garments helping to bring COSSAC’s cool, fresh, minimalist aesthetic to life.
And last but not least it’s been a pleasure to partner with worldwide stockists who have embraced COSSAC’s style and vision and are on board with our sustainability mission. A huge thanks to Utter Couture, Covet, P.i.C. Style, Moon, Hels1nk1, Ecosphere, SOUQ, Slow, Bead & Reel, Fudge and Goldkiss for believing in what we do!
What’s in store for COSSAC
COSSAC will stay true to form and continue to work with our wonderful suppliers from the UK, India and Turkey where we source eco-friendly fabrics and produce our garments. Our commitment to using fabrics and production methods that are fair trade, organic and minimal environmental impact is stronger than ever.
We are constantly improving and reducing our environmental impact but you don’t need to take our word for it. We encourage you to follow us on social media and particularly Instagram, so you can be part of our journey as we detail the ins and outs of our decision making and creative processes. For us transparency is a necessary component of doing conscious business and we honestly have nothing to hide!
We wholeheartedly believe that working with integrity, ensuring that our suppliers and factories that we choose to work with holds certificates upholding ethical production and openly communicating and engaging with our customers is what will continue to strengthen our brand.
And if you have any comments, suggestions, feedback or questions, or just want to wish us a happy 2nd birthday, feel free to get in touch with us. We welcome every opportunity to get to know you so that together we can bring about a fashion revolution!
